Statistics for Experimenters is a book by George Box, William Hunter and Stu Hunter.

Complete with applications covering the physical, engineering, biological, and social sciences, Statistics for Experimenters is designed for individuals who must use statistical approaches to conduct an experiment, but do not necessarily have formal training in statistics. Experimenters need only a basic understanding of mathematics to master all the statistical methods presented.

Quote from the book "constantly test you favorite ideas for weaknesses. Be humble about the extent of you expertise. Be curious about new information that doesn’t fit, and information from other fields. And rather than talking only to people who agree with you, or collecting examples that fit your ideas, see people who contradict you, disagree with you, and put forward ideas as a great resource for understanding the world."

Memo from Dr. W. Edwards Deming to Ford President Don Peterson September, 1987.

Quality is everyone's job. An important function of the Office of Statistical Methodology is to help people throughout the company to achieve continual improvement of the design equipment, processes, protection of investments in equipment; also --most important-- education and protection of investment in people.

"...I find something I learned from Brian Joiner an excellent summary – which I remember as:

Data (measuring a system) can be improved by

distorting the system

distorting the data

or 3) improving the system (which tends to be more difficult though likely what is desired)
Brian Joiner’s book, 4th Generation Management is a great book for managers..."

Customer Focus

the most important customer focus is on the end users: those that derive value from what your organization provides.
...
Toyota doesn’t sell cars directly to users in the USA. But those people driving the cars are where most of Toyota’s focus should be. The Toyota sales office needs to focus on the needs of dealers and perhaps fleet buyers. But most of an organizations focus should be on those using their products even if those are not the people paying the organization.
